Team Members

Our team includes highly qualified personnel who have undergone rigorous training on standardized administration of neuropsychological and other tests/procedures. Testing is supervised by a clinical neuropsychologist (Silverberg) and a neuropsychiatrist (Panenka).

Dr. William Panenka, MD, MSc, FRCPC (Neurology and Psychiatry)

Co-Director

Dr. Panenka is a dually certified psychiatrist and neurologist and assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at UBC. He is the research lead of the BC Provincial Neuropsychiatry program and a researcher with the BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services Institute and the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health. He is the medical lead at the Neuropsychiatry Concussion Clinic and Neurology consultant to the Fraser health concussion clinic. His clinical focus is on treating complex neuropsychiatric illness, while his research programs center on mental health, addictions, and traumatic brain injury in multiple populations ranging from athletes to the homeless.

 

Dr. Noah Silverberg, R.Psych, ABPP-CN

Co-Director

Dr. Silverberg completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology specialty track) from the University of Windsor and a clinical internship at the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority Consortium. Before joining the UBC Department of Psychology in 2020, Dr. Silverberg worked as a staff psychologist at British Columbia’s tertiary rehabilitation hospital (GF Strong Rehab Centre) for over 10 years, where he also led an interdisciplinary brain injury research program as a clinician-scientist. Dr. Silverberg is a registrant of the College of Psychologists of British Columbia and board-certified in clinical neuropsychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP-CN). He leads a research program on psychosocial determinants of health in neurological disorders and rehabilitation.

 

Nishtha Parag

Research Assistant

Nishtha has graduated from the University of British Columbia twice, earning her BSc in Psychology as well as a BKin, with a heavy focus on the brain-body connection. Her aim is to assist with neurological rehabilitation, and is keen to understand evidence-based and novel rehabilitation techniques. In her down-time, Nishtha can be found hiking, drawing, and creating animations.
