About

The Clinical Outcomes for Brain Research – Assessment Hub (COBRAH) was launched by Dr. Noah Silverberg and Dr. William Panenka to accelerate discoveries in clinical neuroscience by facilitating access to trained personnel and test materials for collecting neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric outcomes.

The overarching aim of COBRAH is to support interdisciplinary brain research by centralizing clinical outcome data (particularly neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric) for UBC investigators across psychology, psychiatry, neurology, pathology, critical care, rehabilitation sciences, kinesiology, engineering, and related disciplines. By having COBRAH collect their clinical outcome data, investigators can ensure data integrity, maximize efficiencies, and minimize delays in research implementation. In addition to collecting data, our team can co-develop study protocols, standard operating procedure manuals, and case report forms for new studies, as well as consult on outcome measure selection, data management, and statistical analyses planning. COBRAH operates on a cost-recovery (i.e., not-for-profit) basis.

Our team has experience with a wide range of assessment instruments, including for standardized cognitive screening (e.g., Montreal Cognitive Assessment, Modified Telephone Interview for Cognitive Status), neuropsychological functioning (e.g., National Institutes of Health Toolbox Cognition Battery, Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-IV, Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test), psychiatric status (e.g., MINI International Neuropsychiatric Interview), and functional disability (e.g., Glasgow Outcome Scale-Extended, Modified Rankin Scale, WHO Disability Assessment Schedule).

COBRAH is located in room 1001 of the Douglas T. Kenny building (2136 West Mall) on UBC’s Vancouver campus, on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam people. We offer in-person, offsite, and remote (videoconferencing) assessments.
